Meet the person behind Wickintyre
Canberra local, creative at heart, serial oversharer and genuinely invested in you
Hi, I’m Emma, the designer and marketer behind Wickintyre Design Co.
I’m a proud aunty, a fierce Canberran, wife to Matt and dog mum to Murphy (who regularly makes uninvited appearances in my workday).
I’ve always loved making things and helping people bring their ideas to life. These days, that looks like helping small businesses figure out what they want to say, creating designs that actually feel like them and making stationery for life’s big moments.
You don’t need to come to me with everything figured out. Half-formed ideas, screenshots and “I don’t know exactly what I want, but I’ll know it when I see it” are all welcome. We’ll work it out together.
My story
Creativity has always felt like home
My love of creativity began long before Wickintyre Design Co. Some of my earliest memories are of learning to draw with my grandmother and discovering the joy of paper craft through my mum. They taught me that creativity doesn’t need to be perfect or complicated. It can simply be thoughtful, personal and made with care.
As I grew older, that creativity found its way into design, marketing and storytelling. I became fascinated by how the right combination of words and visuals could help an idea connect with people, whether that meant giving a small business the confidence to show up professionally or creating stationery that captures the feeling of an important moment.
I created Wickintyre Design Co to bring those parts of me together. It’s a place where creative thinking meets practical support, and where clients can feel listened to rather than overwhelmed by the process.
Every project is different, but the heart behind my work remains the same: to create something meaningful, purposeful and genuinely reflective of the person or business it belongs to.
Experience and approach
Real experience behind every idea
I’ve spent more than 10 years working across marketing, communications, advertising, social media, content and design. My experience spans Australian Government, agencies, tourism, education and small business, so I understand both the big-picture strategy and the practical work needed to bring an idea to life.
Over the years, I’ve managed more than 100 campaigns, helped deliver national advertising and tourism campaigns, developed communication strategies, coordinated media events and led projects from the first brief through to reporting.
I love passing on what I’ve learnt whether that’s helping a small business feel more confident or supporting the next generation of marketers and creatives. I spent several years tutoring advertising, brand management and digital media at the University of Canberra.
I’m a self-confessed nerd and genuinely love learning. Alongside my professional experience, I hold degrees in advertising, digital design, and media arts and production, as well as certifications across content, social media, advertising and analytics.
What does all of that mean for you?
You’re in safe hands, I’m not just here to make something look nice. I’ll think about what you need to say, who you need to reach and how everything fits together. I’ll also explain things in plain English, because you shouldn’t need a marketing degree to understand your own project.

Who I work best with
Good work starts with a good working relationship
I do my best work with people who care about what they’re creating and want to be part of the process. You don’t need to arrive with a perfect brief or know all the design lingo. You just need to be open to sharing your ideas, answering a few questions and working through it together.
We’ll be a good fit if you:
Value thoughtful work, not simply the cheapest option
Are happy to collaborate and give clear, honest feedback
Respect agreed timelines, boundaries and project scope
Understand that revisions are there to refine the work, rather than start again each time
Communicate kindly and treat people with respect
I want every project to feel calm, clear and enjoyable for both of us. Being upfront about how I work helps protect the time and care your project deserves, and usually leads to a much better result too.
Clear expectations from the beginning
I want you to feel comfortable and know exactly what to expect before we start working together. My terms and conditions explain how quotes, payments, project timelines, revisions, cancellations, supplied content and final files are handled.
